Have you ever seen Cavin this excited about something? We finally found a sport that makes Cavin smile from ear to ear. He loves motorcycles and dirtbikes...but I think this tops them all.
It all started a while ago when we bought Cavin a $5 tiny skateboard at the local $5 AND BELOW store. Cavin carried his little skateboard everywhere with him and practiced his 'tricks' all the time. Then when we went to Massanutten on our family vacation, Cavin actually got a chance to see some big kids skate on the ramps. He was in awe. So one Saturday a few weeks ago, we were out around town and found the new Old School Sk8 Park. You would not believe Cavin's excitement.
So last night, we finally took him over there to get set up. They outfitted him with an actual rider's helmet, pads, and an authentic mini-skateboard. Of course, the 'mini' is still huge compared to Cavin. But he thinks it is the greatest thing ever. He even spent about an hour last night playing around on the ramps. And with the exception of the 9 hours he was asleep, he has had his full gear on and has been practicing on his skateboard.
Everyone was impressed with him last night...he was the first 2 year old they had ever seen to get on a skateboard and attempt to drop-in on the half-pipe. Of course, the board went down first, and then Cavin slid down. But at least he tried...and he smiled the whole way!
