My little boy continues to amaze me every day! He has such a great heart, and loves helping other people. So right now...he is in his glory!!!
Caden came home from school last week with a fundraising form in his bookbag. Immediately the thought of "Oh Great, what do I have to try to sell now" went through my head. So I asked Caden "what are you selling...and...is it going to help buy the new playground?"
And without missing a beat, Caden went into a full dialogue about how this time he wasn’t trying to do something for himself or for his school, but that he was trying to raise money to help kids around the world that have very sick hearts. He didn’t need to sell anything, all he had to do was spread to the word to people and ask that they help a little bit with paying for new research and development and treatments for children that cannot go outside to play because their hearts are so sick.
It showed in Caden's eyes that he truly cared about all of the kids out there that are suffering and he wanted to help however he could.
So...Caden and I sat down at the computer and looked through the forms for the Jump Rope for Heart event. He was right. There was no self-gain in this fundraiser, other than the good feeling of helping others. We immediately got him logged into the website and sent out and email to friends and family for their support.
Caden set his initial goal of raising $100. And guess what? Within the past week, his goal was met! I am so thankful for my son for caring soo much about others...and extremely greatful for the friends and family that have offered up support to him and to the American Heart Association.
And of course...we can't quit here. We increased his goal to $200...let's see if he can make it! We have until February 11th to collect donations!
