In fact, I think I am actually his biggest critic. Maybe it's because he is my first-born...maybe I expect too much from him, or hold him to higher standards than I do the younger two. But really...I could not have been blessed with a more amazing little boy. And now, at 7 years old and entering the 2nd grade...he is quickly growing up before my eyes.
With the brightest blue eyes...and now with no teeth, he can charm just about anyone into letting him have his way. But he is also a genuine sweetheart. He is constantly thinking of others before himself, finding ways to make other people happy, and making sure he is making people proud.
Although born in AZ and raised here in VA...Caden is a New Yorker at heart. He adores the NY Yankees, is fascinated by the big city life, and has dedicated plans to be a member of NYPD when he grows up. Only in the off season though, as he definitely plans to play for the Yankees one day too.
Favorite player: Nick Swisher (and A-Rod, Jeter, Sabathia, and the list goes on)
Caden loves baseball. Playing, watching, being a part of the team...the camaraderie, the history, you name it. And he is known to be the loudest fan cheering at the local Richmond Flying Squirrels games (just ask ANYONE around us!!).
Favorite ballpark food: hotdogs, nachos & crackerjacks
The television is his crutch. A curse if you ask me. If it is on, Caden is watching it. Nothing else can happen when he is tuned in to the screen. And his mood is directly affected by it (hence the tv-nazi title that I have earned). So if you ever plan to hang out and have a conversation with Caden and a television is on...either hit the power button, expect some tears, and then carry on...or plan your talk for another time. I just choose to leave it off, and send him back outside to play.
Favorite channels: Disney XD, Food Network, ESPN
He orders Coke Zero at every restaurant we go to, and seems genuinely upset when they don’t carry it. He also loves root beer. But only the kind in a bottle, where he can scratch off the word 'root' and laugh like crazy that he is drinking beer. He has to stand in the same spot every day to brush his teeth, climbs the stairs the same way every day, and will only wear socks that are the same brand as the shoes he is wearing. He reads clearly, but writes sloppy. Colors in the lines, yet throws his laundry next to the basket. He loves to swim in the pool, fish at the river, and ride waves at the ocean. He wants golf lessons, and guitar lessons, and drum lessons, and any other lesson that he learns is out there...he is running out of time in the 24-hour day. But he does great at school, excels in everything he tries...who am I to hold him back?
