Spring Lacrosse 2012 - SCLC Ravens / UVA

Cavin LOVES lacrosse.  He loves playing, he loves watching, he loves the camaraderie, the sportsmanship, the challenge, the strategy...he just loves the sport.

This was Cavin's second season as an SCLC Raven playing in the U9 division.  Still only 7 years old, he played phenomenally and had a great season.  It was such a joy to watch as these kids turned from a group of strangers into an awesome representation of the Ravens organization.  Cavin met some great life-lasting friends and learned a great deal about the sport.  It was definitely a great season.

First night of Ravens 2012 practice.  A bunch of kids - on the blacktop in the cold.  Some with experience, some who had never played before.  But TWICE as many kids as last year.  Amazing for the Ravens organization.

Running drills with the HS players there to help.  Check out Cavin's crazy outfit.  At least I always know how to spot him on the field!

Another night at practice...I love just seeing the gear spread out everywhere...they were working on positioning, where to be, etc.  At this age, it's definitely all about the fundamentals.

Gearing up for the first game of the season.  The Ravens got new uniforms this year.  Look who sorted them out for all the teams :)  Custom order numbers, for 6 different teams,  in many different sizes.  If Chris is smiling in this picture, he definitely wasnt by the time this was all sorted out.

Game 1 - new uniform...new stick...ready to play!!

love this kid - but watch out for him on the field.  He gets vicious out there!
Check out his socks - HEADStrong lacrosse foundation, assisting to defeat blood cancer.

Calling for the pass!

Heading to the middle of the action.

Getting his trophy and pictures at the end of the season.  Pretty sure Coach Callan made some sort of remarks about his dedication to the sport, something about girls - and his crazy clothes.

Cavin's team headed down to UVA one Saturday afternoon to watch the UVA Hopkins game.  If there is anything Cavin loves more than playing lacrosse himself, it's anything related to UVA lacrosse.  Being there at the Klockner Stadium is an awesome experience for him.

Cheering on the lacrosse guys!

Watching from the lawn

With all of his birthday money, Cavin bought himself a goal to put up in the backyard.  No excuse to ever miss a goal when you can practice daily at your own house right?
Jacie got her own lacrosse stick this year too...so there is no doubt this goal will get used.

Back at UVA for a night game.  Watching the players warm up.  Not a care in the world other than what is happening on the field.

We stayed late after the game and Cavin was able to spend a little time talking to his favorite player Steele Stanwick.  Cavin was beside himself with excitement...
This was Steele's last season with UVA...Cavin will have to retire his #6 jersey.

Cavin also got to go one night with his friend Michael to another lacrosse game up at Johns Hopkins University...and stayed late after the game to talk to Wells Stanwick (yep, Steele's brother)

You would all probably laugh if I told you just how much Cavin wishes he was part of this family.  haha...they are about as superstar as you can be in the lacrosse world!
