Next stop - Nassau Bahamas! Pulling into the port was absolutely gorgeous! It was truly a breathtaking experience for all of us!
This ship followed us into port...dont worry, they turned before they hit the island!
So pretty!!
Chris and I aren't ones to take a cruise-ship endorsed excursion. We like to just explore on our own! So instead of paying $40 a person for a boat ride to Atlantis (just to see it, not use it) we got off the ship and found a little desk selling tickets over to Atlantis for $7 a person. Perfect. Although it was a little sketchy at first, as we crowded an unmarked boat with a bunch of other unknowing tourists...the trip was actually really fun. The kids had to (got to) sit up in the front with the captain and got their own personal tour of where we were going and what we were seeing.
Unfortunately it was a long walk over to the public beaches from where the ferry docked, but we were able to walk through this really cute little town and window shop a bit.
When we finally got to the beach - it was amazing!! Beautiful sandy beaches, crystal clear water...so pretty!!
What you dont see in this picture is that we were completely accosted by some Bahamian people as soon as our toes hit the sand. Chairs, umbrella, drinks, you name it...they were trying to sell it. Of course, they know that tourists from cruise ships sure as hell arent carrying chairs and umbrellas with them, so it's pretty much a given that they will make some money.
They got us, no problem! Of course we wanted some shade and a place to sit. :)
They also twisted my arm - nearly broke it actually - into renting a jetski.
(actually...I did a pretty good job at bartering the price down.
Chris and I took off first, exploring the island waters. It was such a great time. The kids took turns as well...and even Nana went for a ride! She made me slow down, but I think she still had a good time.
Loving the beach!!
Instead of walking back to the ferry boat, we all jumped into a taxi headed back to the port. The kids sat up front with the driver, and the adults sat WAY in the back. Crazy. It was an insanely adventurous ride through the island.
We stopped at Senor Frogs for drinks and food. Such a fun atmosphere...sitting on the deck, watching the water and listening to music.
The balloon man even showed up and made some crazy hats for the kids. Cavin has a tiger, Caden just wanted something silly, and Jacie got a crown of course.
Straw market shopping, posing for pictures, and it was time to head back to the ship!!
