I know...we never sit still! But in our constant adventures, more memories are made! And I wouldn’t have it any other way.
For Memorial Day 2012, we headed up to Long Island NY to visit with the Corke Family! Who would have thought that on our week long cruise in January, we would have met such amazing people that have become even better friends.
We had a great weekend with them, and were so thankful to them for welcoming us into their family and showing us such a good time.
We started out our weekend with some NY Bagels, followed by a trip into the city to see the 9/11 Memorial. What a great opportunity for all of us to truly reflect on the actions of those days, and to teach the children about the history of the horrific events. It was absolutely beautiful, though a solemn experience.
We had a great day out in the city, and got back to the house just in time for dinner with the family. The kids played for HOURS in the yard while we were able to sit and visit with everyone as if we saw them every day.
Sunday was spent on the water...we headed out on the river to watch the Blue Angels air show. It was amazing! And very cool to see the way that the Long Island waterways all connected together. (And we were lucky enough that Mr. Lindroth knew all of the back ways!) So much fun.
Sadly, we had to head back to town on Monday. But it was all in all a great trip, and we are already planning when we can get the families together again.
