11 weeks of summer vacation, gone in an instant! The kids had a great time but were ready to get back into a classroom routine.
Caden is a big third grader this year. Complete with REAL GRADES, SOL testing, and accountability. Definitely a different level of work than the years prior. But he is doing fantastic. His teacher Mrs. Fitzsimmons works well with him...she gives him the leeway where he needs it, the praise when he deserves it, and the challenge to keep him engaged and learning.
Cavin is a second grader, and was very fortunate when he received Mrs. Mann as his assigned teacher. Caden had Mrs. Mann last year and we just loved her as a teacher, so Cavin was very much looking forward to a year in her class. Even better, his best friend Cooper was placed in his class as well. Cavin is doing great in school, with good grades AND good behavior. I know, hard to believe! And he loves it. So I can't complain.
Jacie is still only four, but was getting bored in her preschool class. We had her tested and enrolled her in the private kindergarten offered at the same location she was already attending. She was one of 10 students selected for the kindergarten class, and she is doing AMAZING. She can read better than I could ever imagine, doing basic math, and she LOVES to write. She will likely attend public school kindergarten next year, just to keep her in the same age bracket as her peers...but we will have to stay on top of keeping her challenged. Right now she is blowing through anything placed in front of her.
